- Know someone in the NDT Industry who can get you into their company. It will need to be a company willing to spend the time and money to train you from scratch. It’s possible, but rare. So, Good Luck!
- Go to NDT Job listing websites to find job postings for ZERO EXPERIENCE jobs. Again, Good Luck!
- Call around to NDT Inspection Companies to see if they will hire you.
- Invest in yourself! Get some NDT Training to add to your resume. Show that you are serious about being part of this industry. Then, start calling NDT Inspection Companies, add your name to turnaround lists (Primarily refinery jobs that bring in extra personnel to work as helpers on shutdowns or turnarounds.) We actually get calls asking for students who have successfully completed the basic set of NDT Classes for these type jobs.
What does the future look like for the NDT Industry?
The future looks good for the NDT Industry! Things will always be manufactured. They will always wear out. Things will always have to be inspected.
The NDT Job Market is growing, but most of the employers want people who have already taken the necessary NDT Training Classes for entry level positions.
Their preference is for experienced technicians, but this is true for most industries. Companies will always prefer experienced help. It costs them less in time, money and resources, so why wouldn’t they?
In order to find a job in this fast growing industry you need to be prepared, therefore, you need to be educated. You need to be persistent.
